Zero is a Maverick Hunter that takes his job very seriously. When he is given a particular task, he will see it through without question or complaint. With his trusted Z-Saber, Zero can easily cut down things that would be a threat to those he believes in and cares for.While Zero may seem cold and distant, he cares deeply for those that are close to him. His affection is mostly physical, as he's not very good at expressing his feelings verbally. Despite this, he is capable of emotion. Strangely, however, he is unable to shed tears.Zero's quite perceptive, which leads to him being good at putting two and two together. He's notably very knowledgeable about a variety of subjects, being able to describe things in good detail.Zero also has a bit of a sarcastic and snarky side to him, occasionally making quips at Mavericks when he goes to fight them.This personality is a sort of "composite" version of X series Zero, taking sources from the canon games, as well as Maverick Hunter X.
backstory
Zero is the final creation of Doctor Albert Wily, originally as a means to destroy the original Mega Man and perhaps even Bass. However, due to a programming error, Zero would not listen to Wily's commands. As such, Wily would seal Zero away with a computer program that would soon be the basis for the Maverick Virus.Upon being discovered by the Maverick Hunters, Zero lashed out, clearing out an entire unit of Reploids. This prompted the leader of the Maverick Hunters, namely Commander Sigma, to act.Sigma and Zero fought a long, brutal battle. Only ending when the program Zero had been sealed away with had left him vulnerable, leaving Sigma with the opportunity to deal the finishing blow.After some brief interrogating and internal discussion within the Maverick Hunters, Zero had been inducted as a member within the task force of Reploids. He very quickly rose through the ranks, finding himself alongside Commander Sigma himself. He'd also meet Mega Man X, ironically also the last creation by Wily's arch-nemesis, Doctor Thomas Light.X and Zero would become inseparable, becoming the best of friends throughout a series of wars that would soon be waged by the former Commander Sigma.Zero would give his life several times throughout what would be called the Maverick Wars, a series of conflicts revolving around the spread of the Maverick Virus and its consequences. During these conflicts, Zero and X would work with several other members of the Maverick Hunters such as Alia, Signas, and Axl.However, Zero would most notably meet Iris, a member of Repliforce and Colonel's sister. When the Sky Lagoon was attacked, and also destroyed, many lives were lost. Repliforce happened to be the primary suspect of the incident, however Repliforce denied such accusations and began a coup d'état, unknowingly playing into Sigma's hands.It was before, and during this time, where Zero and Iris had been romantically involved with one another. However, the incident with Sky Lagoon and Repliforce would prove to be the thing that severed their relationship. After Zero had destroyed Colonel, Iris took revenge against Zero, using the core of her older brother in an attempt to kill her lover.These events in particular would shape Zero forever, in a particularly negative way. He'd become far more closed off, stoic, and no-nonsense as a result of this. He also has a newfound determination to not ever lose anyone again, not like how he lost Iris.Furthermore, during the Eurasia incident, Zero had been exposed to large amounts of the Maverick Virus. This caused him to go berserk, with the fact he had gotten far more powerful in this state certainly not helping. X had been forced to take down Zero for the greater good. Though, in his final moments, Zero came to his senses and assisted X with taking down Sigma.Despite this, however, Zero was yet again revived. Seemingly for unknown reasons that to this day, he still is unsure about.
